Career Counseling

The Center for New Directions provides counseling and guidance to individuals to help them recognize their abilities and interests, set goals, solve problems, and find a positive life direction.

The Center emphasizes self-assessment and personal decision-making when providing career counseling. Career counselors use tools such as the Self Directed Search, the Career Information System, and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator to help individuals match their values, interests, and skills with careers choices.

Educational Counseling

Educational Counseling helps people prepare for, enter, and successfully complete a degree program. This may include getting ready for college by refreshing up on math or English skills, sharpening study or test taking skills, taking placement tests, entering a GED program, filling out admissions and financial aid applications, etc. Educational Counseling may also include handling obstacles that may surface along the way, such as child care, transportation, difficulties encountered in class, etc.
