June Brings 4th Annual
Lewis & Clark Symposium,
"Two Centuries, Two Peoples: A Confluence of Histories"
LEWISTON – The 4th Annual Lewis & Clark Symposium, sponsored
by LCSC Extended Programs, will be held June 20, 21 and 22 in the Williams
Conference Center. This year’s theme will focus on “locating, mapping and
retracing the route of the Corps of Discovery through the land of the Nez
Perce.”
The two and a-half day Symposium will feature noted historians, authors, and
Nez Perce Tribal members. Included will be a full-day escorted bus tour to
Salmon Trout Camp near Weippe, ID. “With renewed and increased interest in
the history of Lewis and Clark’s ventures through our local area, we expect
to see a record turn out for this event,” said Kathy Martin, Symposium
Project Director.
The $125 registration fee includes one and a-half days of educational
presentations and workshops, the tour, one dinner, two lunches and a
continental breakfast. LCSC students, staff, and instructors receive reduced
rates. Martin expects the event to be approved for teacher in-service, CEU,
and LCSC academic credit. Additional fees will be applicable for credit.
