Jim Bowen, Advisor

National Advisor of the Year

Advisor Jim Bowen said, “The International Career Development Conference is the ‘World Series’ for Marketing Education curriculum.” More than 2,000 students from over 30 states and countries attend the conference to apply the marketing and management skills they learn in the classroom. Each student attending the ICDC had to earn that opportunity by placing in their respective state competitions earlier this year.

Twelve BMSA students represented LC, accompanied by Bowen. “This year was one of our best performances and it was a great learning experience for everyone who attended. I’m very proud of all of our students, whether they placed in competition or not,” said Bowen.

Delta Epsilon Chi, (DEC) a college division of DECA, serves its diverse international membership as a professional organization, providing leadership and career-oriented opportunities to develop and enhance the leaders of tomorrow. Delta Epsilon Chi’s renowned Competitive Events Program uses interviews, roll plays, and written project reports to evaluate the students’ marketing and management skills—specific skills identified by the business community as essential for success and taught in the college classroom and in DEC activities. DEC members participating in the competitive events choose their event from more than 20 career areas. Business professionals apply their real-world expertise in judging events related to their occupational fields.
