LC Business Management Students
Show Their Stuff at State Conference
LEWISTON - The Idaho State Career Development Conference for Delta Epsilon Chi was
recently held in Lewiston at the Red Lion Hotel. On February 21st through the 22nd, the
conference showcased and tested the talents of students from around the state. Delta
Epsilon Chi (DEC) is the college-level equivalent of the DECA program and is an
international association of marketing students.
LCSC's local chapter is called the Business Management Student Association (BMSA). This
year's competition was very tough with over 100 marketing and business students from seven
colleges and universities competing. In spite of the tough competition, students from
LCSC's Student Association faired very well, serving up several state champions and
qualifying 12 students for national competition.
The Quiz Bowl team of students Jennifer Kilby, Geoff Keller, Melissa Berger and David
Dufvenberg brought home the coveted traveling trophy. LCSC's team convincingly beat every
team it met in the double-elimination tournament. Association historian Justin Babino
said, "This is the first time in 8 years LC has won this honor."
Chapter advisors Jim Bowen and Rob Lohrmeyer were each honored with "Advisor of the
Year" designations. The talented, winning students are now planning and preparing to
represent the state of Idaho at the International Career Development Conference in Salt
Lake City, Utah, April 13-18, 2002.
