Thomas to
Announce Departure of Athletic Director
LEWISTON—At a press conference scheduled for 9:00 a.m. Tuesday
(February 12), President Dene Thomas will announce the resignation of Athletic Director
Kathy Noble
Noble took the reins of the Lewis-Clark State’s athletic department in August of
2001. She replaced Gary Hunter, former Athletic Director for the University of Idaho and
Consultant and Chief Executive Officer for Diamond Sports Management. Hunter served as
interim director at Thomas’ invitation and was never a candidate for the permanent
position.
A Washington State University alum, Noble has a long history in collegiate athletics in
the Northwest, including service as the Associate Commissioner with the Big Sky Conference
and Associate Athletic Director at the University of Montana at Missoula. She came to
Lewis-Clark State from the Georgia Institute of Technology, where she was the Senior
Associate Athletic Director.
Noble took on substantial challenges at LC, including some of the toughest budget issues
the school has faced in recent history.
The press conference will be in room 143 in the Student Union Building, lower level.
