LCSC Hosts Technology and E-Commerce Workshops
More than 40 speakers are scheduled to present workshops
at the Summer Technology Institute and E-Commerce 2001: Exploring the New Economy, a
three-day conference, to be held June 25-27, at the Williams Conference Center at
Lewis-Clark State College.
The event is sponsored by the Region II Idaho Small Business Development Center, Idaho
Virtual Incubator, Distance Learning Technologies, Institute for Community Development,
Extended Programs, Technical and Sponsored Programs, and Workforce Training at LCSC.
Community sponsors include Valley Vision 2001 and the Lewiston Chamber of Commerce. Grants
for the IVI project from the Idaho State Board of Education and Economic Development
Administration are also funding the conference.
Jeff Neiswanger, President of Tele Servicing Innovations (TSI), a business expanding to
Lewiston later this year, will be the keynote lunch speaker on Tuesday. He will address
the technology trends in business. Speakers from Avista, Oracle, Hewlett Packard, Bechtel,
Electronic Commerce resource Center (ECRC) are among the scheduled presenters.
Each day of the conference will have a different focus. Monday will feature technology and
business with workshops including: starting an e-business, how to build a database driven
web page, developing manufacturing alliances and videoconferencing. Tuesday will
concentrate on Internet marketing. Workshops will include: how to start a dot.com business
and succeed, international marketing, viral marketing, how to treat a virus, how to set up
an affiliate marketing program, and government contracting. Wednesday, the spotlight will
be on teaching and learning in the information age. Topics include: the basics of the
Internet, teaching via interactive video conferencing, entrepreneurship, strategy and
technology, and Internet business counseling.
Cost for the conference is $150. Registration fees include sessions, materials,
refreshment breaks, continental breakfast and lunch. One-day rates as well as discounts
for Idaho college or university students and faculty/staff are also available.
