What: National Business Association Awards Go to LCSC
Students Where: Lewis-Clark State College, Lewiston, ID When: May 9-13,2001 Contact: Rhonda Combs; 208-792-2315 National Business Awards Come Home to LCSC Eight Lewis-Clark State College students won top honors at the Business Professionals of America National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, California, earlier this month. Eight top-ten awards were won by the following students: Megan Butler--10th in Fundamental Word Processing Skills and 5th in Administrative Support Concepts; Mandy Fowler--3rd in Fundamental Word Processing Skills and 3rd in Legal Office Procedures; Kristi Lame--4th in Keyboarding Production and 6th in Verbal Communications--Extemporaneous II; Russ Lohman--1st in C++ Programmer; and Jeff Wykoff--9th in BASIC programmer. Other LCSC students attending the conference were Deanna Gibler, Janell Miller, and Wes Small. The LC students joined over 5,000 other conference attendees from across the nation to participate in national level business skills competitions, workshops, general sessions, and national officer candidate campaigns and elections at the National Leadership Conference May 9-13. The conference was a culmination of a business workforce education and training that members of the local chapter of Business Professionals of America at Lewis-Clark State College received. Their advisor, Rhonda Combs, accompanied them. Business Professionals of America is a national organization for high school and college students preparing for careers in business and office occupations. The organization's activities and programs complement classroom instruction by giving students practical experience through application of the skills learned at school. Business Professionals of America acts as a cohesive agent in the nation-wide networking of education, business and industry, and is contributing to the preparation of a world-class workforce through the advancement of leadership, citizenship, technological, and academic skills. |
