LCSC Welcomes New President
Lewis-Clark State College will welcome its new president, Dr. Dene Kay Thomas, with a public reception on Friday, July 13, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Center for Arts and History in downtown Lewiston.
The Friday the 13th event is being called "LCSC's Lucky Day," as an indicator of the excitement surrounding her arrival. "Dr. Thomas is a new leader, with a new vision," says College Advancement Director, Jody Oftelie. "We have a lot to look forward to in the future."
In addition to giving the community a chance to meet her personally, the reception is an opportunity for individuals to talk with Dr. Thomas about her vision for the college, ask questions and offer comments. Representatives of LCSC administration, faculty, staff, students and alumni will be on hand. Dr. Thomas is known for her desire to be accessible and knowledgeable about constituents' concerns. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
On the heels of her welcoming reception, the new president, along with an LCSC entourage, will embark on a tour of surrounding communities the week following her arrival. The group will travel to outreach centers in communities served by the college.
The three-day tour is intended to personally introduce the new president and offer a forum for discussion of the school's role and direction for the future. The tour will begin on Tuesday, July 17, with stops in Orofino, Kamiah, and Kooskia. Wednesday will begin with a stop in Lapwai, followed by another in Grangeville. The third day will see her in DeSmet and Coeur d'Alene.
Representatives of community, tribal and state governments, local public school personnel, LCSC alumni, new and prospective students are among those invited to attend in each location.
