LCSC, State and Nation Celebrate
Employee Recognition Day
Knowing that it is right and good to recognize those that
serve the public, Governor Dirk Kempthorne signed a proclamation declaring
May 8 as Employee Recognition Day in Idaho. The date coordinates with the
national day recognizing public employees and, coincidentally, was the exact
date on which Lewis-Clark State College held its Faculty and Staff
Recognition Social.
The event, which took place on Wednesday at LCSC’s Williams Conference
Center, honored those chosen by their peers for having done an exceptional
job of teaching, administering, organizing, managing; whatever work an
employee of the college has done extraordinarily well and, in so doing, has
served the public well.
Individuals honored for excellence in teaching were:
H.L. Talkington Faculty Achievement Award
Daniel Mayton, Education Division
Lewis-Clark State College Foundation Award
Richard Moore, Social Sciences Division
President’s Award for Teaching Excellence (3 awards)
Lana Elliott, Education Division
Patricia Keith, Literature & Languages Division
Mike Bradley, Technical & Industrial Division
Adjunct Teaching Awards.....Amanda Meyer, Technical &
Industrial Div.
Staff members honored for outstanding performance were:
Excellence in Diversity Award
Kai Fong, Tennis Center Coordinator/Coach
Telly Awards for Excellence in Instructional Video Production
(Two videos were honored; The Discovered People and The Nimiipoo)
Dane Kane & Jason Goldammer, producing and editing
Tom Hennigan, scripting
Professional Staff Award for Excellence
Kathy Martin, Extended Programs
Classified Staff Organization Employee of the Year
Geri Waters, Administrative Services
Individuals retiring from LCSC after many years of service were also
recognized:
Retiring Faculty…….Alice Blevans, Professor, Nursing - 26
years;
Robert Wilson, Professor, Technical & Industrial Division - 26 years
Retiring Staff……… Jackie Ringo, Administrative Assistant
I, Student Union Building, Williams Conference Center -24 years; Geri
Waters, Administrative Assistant II, Administrative Services- 23 years; Doug
Steel, Mail Room - 11 years.
Money for this year’s awards event became a concern when LCSC’s funding was
reduced by the state due to changes in the economy. The LCSC Foundation
Board, a group of community volunteers which raises and manages money for
the college, was able to help. Feeling it was important to maintain the
awards tradition, which has taken place for over 15 years, the board voted
to contribute funds in 2002.
