Native American Awareness, Women's
The slate of events recognizing contributions and celebrating the gifts of women and
Native Americans continues this week. Native American Awareness Week features renowned
motivational speakers Howard Rainer and Lisa Tiger, followed by Don Sampson of the
Columbia Basin Intertribal Fish Commission and Aaron Miles, Director of the Nez Perce
Tribe's Natural Resources Department, both speaking about cultural and environmental
issues. Women in leadership roles within tribal government and communities are represented
in the final presentation of the day by Marjorie Zarate, Executive Director for the
Clearwater Casino and Julie Kane, from Nez Perce Tribe's Office of Legal Counsel.
Lewis-Clark State annually hosts events related to both topics, with featured speakers and presentations.
