Subject: Preliminary Counts Show Student Enrollment
Increase Contact: Office of the President - 208/792-2216 Preliminary Counts Show Student Numbers Up Lewis-Clark State College President Dene Kay Thomas had good news to report as faculty and staff returned from the Labor Day weekend: Preliminary counts show LCSC student enrollment up approximately 5% from last year. College officials were cautiously optimistic when data available at the start of orientation showed a modest 1% increase. Since then, numbers coming from the Registrar's Office have steadily increased, and President Thomas hopes the trend will continue--allowing LCSC to report an even higher percentage growth at the end of the week, when the all-important "Ten-day" figures are due to state officials. Idaho colleges are required to report enrollment figures at the beginning and end of each semester. The State Board of Education uses the end-of-semester numbers when determining the schools' funding. |
