Other sponsors include the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare and Casey Family Programs of Boise. The workshop begins on Wednesday, July 18th and continues on Thursday, the 19th, from 9:00-5:00 p.m. both days. The program concludes Friday, July 20, after a final session from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Red Lion Hotel, 621 21st Street in Lewiston. Casey Family Programs is presenting the three-day event in Lewiston as a reprise of a successful workshop held last year in Nampa. It is an intensive two and one-half day program intended to "educate, challenge and empower" people to "undo" cultural structures that prevent effective social change. The presentation focuses on racism, where it comes from, how it operates and is perpetuated. Racism is described as the most critical barrier to social unity in the United States, and presenters use history as a guide to action for the future. Registration for the workshop is $100 and includes lunch for each of the three days. Seating is limited and registration should be completed by July 6. For registration, or more information, contact Ms. Julie Stevens of Casey Family Programs at 208/377-1771, ext. 227. An informational brochure is available from the Associate Vice President for Instruction's Office at Lewis-Clark State College (208/792-2325). |
