Johnston, Stinson are named Division Chairs
Matthew Johnston will become the new Division Chair for Natural Sciences and Mathematics at Lewis-Clark State College, while Lori Stinson will take over as Division Chair for the Nursing Division, both starting this July, LCSC Dean of Academic Programs Christine Pharr has announced.
Johnston will replace Craig Steenberg, who will be returning to the faculty in July, while Stinson takes the place of Mary Ruth Hassett, who is retiring this summer.
Johnston has been a faculty member in the Division of Natural Science since Fall 2000. He received a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California, Irvine in June 2000. During his tenure at LCSC Johnston has served on numerous faculty committees, been a co-PI on the IDeA Network of Biomedical Research and Excellence (INBRE) Grant to promote biomedical curriculum and research and won the President’s Award for Outstanding Teaching.
Pharr says she looks forward to working with Johnston as Division Chair and “expects he will bring tremendous energy and enthusiasm to this position and the Academic Programs Division Chairs Team.”
Stinson has been a faculty member in the Bachelors of Nursing Program since 1997. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Idaho in Adult Education in 2004 and won the Outstanding Dissertation Award from the Idaho Lifelong Learning Association. Stinson is currently the Assistant to the Division Chair in the Nursing and Health Sciences Division and has served on numerous college and division committees during her tenure at LCSC.
Pharr says she is delighted that Stinson will begin serving as Chair of the Nursing and Health Sciences Division in the coming year. “Dr. Stinson is a experienced and respected faculty member on campus and she will make an excellent addition to the Academic Programs Division Chairs team,” Pharr says.
