Raffle tickets are on sale to benefit Native American Club
Half-day boat tours of Hells Canyon, Pendleton items, a tipi, and a getaway package to the Wildhorse Resort and Casino in Pendleton, Ore., are among the more than 30 prizes that are available in the Ike Wilson Scholarship and Marshall-Watters Loan Fund Raffle, sponsored by the Lewis-Clark State College Native American Club.
The raffle will be held March 16 during the LCSC Native American Awareness Week powwow, which starts at 7 p.m. at the LCSC Activity Center.
Tickets for the raffle are $1 apiece and can be purchased from LCSC Native American Club members, at the club’s office located in Room 227 of the LCSC Student Union Building, or at the Native American & Minority Student Services office, located in Room 8 in the basement of Reid-Centennial Hall.
Proceeds from the raffle are donated to the Ike Wilson Scholarship Fund and the Marshall-Watters Loan Fund to benefit Native American students at LCSC. Wilson was a 1977 graduate of the college with a degree in History. In recognition of his contributions to the Native American Club and LCSC, a scholarship fund was developed in his name.
The Marshall-Watters Memorial Fund was established in 1996 by LCSC Social Sciences professor Alan G. Marshall to honor his two families, those of William Hampton Marshall and Samuel Marion Watters. The purpose of the fund is to provide Native American Students with an emergency fund for books and supplies.
Other raffle prizes include cash awards ranging from $50-$100, messages and drinks from Henry’s Day Spa; Pendleton blankets, purses, and journals; Dar Anderson artwork; beaded belt buckles, barrettes, and earrings; huckleberry jam, a DVD player; books, a Sante Fe wool trade blanket.
