Exhibit opens Friday at Center for Arts & History
In coordination with the Wallace Stegner Lecture, an exhibition by the Monoprint Guild of New England will open on Friday at the Lewis-Clark State College Center for Arts & History, located at 415 Main St. in Lewiston.
Judy Blount will give the Wallace Stegner Lecture at 7:30 p.m. on Friday night.
The Monoprint Guild of New England exhibition, called “The Coming of Age,” features work from 30 artists and celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Guild. “The Coming of Age” features a portfolio of unique prints selected by Joann Moser, senior curator of prints at the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, D.C. The works run the gamut from traditional to contemporary imagery.
One exhibition wall at the Center will be reserved for Dawn Latane, who is the Rosehill Visiting Artist for 2007 and will open an exhibit on March 28. Latane is a native of Vermont and her exhibitions include solo shows at commercial and college galleries in the mid-Atlantic areas, and group exhibitions around the country. She currently teaches as an adjunct faculty member at both the University of Richmond and Randolph-Macon College.
A special public reception for Latane will be held on March 28, starting at 5 p.m., at the Center. The reception is free and open to the public, with local printmakers on hand to answer questions about the medium and process of printmaking. Latane will then lecture at 7-9 p.m., also at the Center.
