LCSC women add JC standout
Lewis-Clark State College women’s basketball coach Brian Orr announced that Sadie Short (Touchet, WA / Walla Walla Community College/ Touchet HS), has signed a letter of intent to attend LCSC and play basketball. She will enroll as a junior and have two years of eligibility.
“We are extremely excited that Sadie has decided to join our program,” said Orr. “She is a very athletic and versatile player who can score the ball a lot of different ways. Offensively she has the complete package and she is a great rebounder. One of the best things we like is the fact that she is coming from a winning program and knows what it takes. We expect her to play a major role on next year’s team.”
A 5-foot-11 guard-forward, Short played two seasons for Bobbi Hazeltine at Walla Walla Community College where she was a two-time NWAACC All-Star selection and this past season was named MVP of the Eastern Region. Short averaged 15.9 points per game and led the entire NWAACC in defensive rebounding, pulling down 9.3 per game. She finished second overall in the conference in rebounding, averaging 12.6 per game.
She was a three-sport standout at Touchet High School, being named All-Blue Mountain League in volleyball, basketball and softball. She scored over 1,000 points in her high school basketball career.
“Sadie can get the rebound, lead the fast break and finish it, stated Orr. “She is a talented player who has the ability to make big plays on both ends of the floor.”
Short, the Warriors first signee this year, is joining a Lewis-Clark State team that returns two starters and finished 31-3, while reaching the NAIA National Tournament for the 11th time in the last 12 seasons. LCSC went undefeated in Frontier Conference play.
She is the third player LCSC has signed from WWCC in the past three years. Forward Aundrea Morrison finished her LCSC career this past season, while post Mandy Troutt will be a senior on next year’s squad.
