LCSC to preview film Banished on Monday

The film “Banished” that takes a look at how three counties in the South are dealing with the legacy of banishment will be previewed on Monday, Feb. 4, at 7 p.m. at the Lewis-Clark State College Library Telecommunications Classroom.

This is the fourth in a series of eight Independent Lens documentary film previews at LCSC, which are free and open to the public. The previews are sponsored by the LCSC Continuing Education & Community Events program, the Independent Television Series Community Cinema, and the Public Broadcasting Service.

The preview will be followed by a moderated discussion.

“Banished” is directed by Marco Williams and looks at how the three counties confront the wave of racial purging that tore through the South more than a century ago. The events and the results are discussed with both current residents and descendants of the banished families.

Continuing Education & Community Events, a department of Community Programs at LCSC, is dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals through distinctive service and exceptional programs. For more information call 792-2447 or visit www.lcsc.edu/ce
