Region II ISBDC offers variety of training workshops in March

The Region II Idaho Small Business Development Center at Lewis-Clark State College is offering four training workshops during March, including workshops on doing business with the government, and hiring, firing, and employee incentives.
The first workshop is “How to Start a Business Boot Camp” will be held on March 3, at 6-9 p.m. in Room 12 of the LCSC Administration Building. Participants will learn business feasibility, self-employment assessment, initial market research, start-up expenses, financial feasibility, choosing a business structure, obtaining financing, determining regulations, setting prices, creating marketing materials, and developing a business plan. Jill Thomas-Jorgenson, Director of the Region II ISBDC at LCSC, will be the instructor and the registration fee is $10.
The same workshop also will be held March 10 at The Gallery in Grangeville, located at 107 W. North, at 6-9 p.m. Judy Schumacher will be the instructor and the fee is $10 per person.
A “Hiring, Firing, and Employee Incentives” workshop will be held on March 24 at 6-9 p.m. in Room 12 of the LCSC Administration Building. Topics covered in this workshop include effective interview questions, how to hire the right people, how to fire an employee, and creative ways to reward employees. The registration fee is $25 and workshop will be led by Tedi Roach.
The final workshop, scheduled for March 26, is “Doing Business with the Government.” It will be held at 8 a.m.-noon in Room 225 of the LCSC Student Union Building and is free. Topics include if a someone provides transportation-related services in construction, consulting, supplies, or other areas, that person may be eligible for the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Disadvantage Business Enterprise Program. Also, the workshop will discuss the services available through the Idaho Business Network and the Idaho Small Business Development Center. The workshop will be led by various speakers.
