LCSC's Gordy is named first team All American
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Lewis-Clark State College senior Mike Gordy earned first-team NAIA Division I Men's Basketball All-America honors on Tuesday, the organization announced. Gordy, a 6-foot-5 forward from Denver, Colo., was a second-team selection last season. He was the only member of either the first or second team from last year to earn first team honors this season. The NAIA All-America teams are selected by the NAIA Men's Basketball Coaches' Association All-American Committee. Westminster sophomore guard Danny Reeder was a third-team selection, while Rocky Mountain's Chase Sukut earned honorable mention honors. They were the only two Frontier Conference players outside of Gordy to earn honors. Gordy had a remarkable season for LCSC, which went 22-10 and won both the Frontier Conference regular season and tournament titles for the second straight season and qualified for the NAIA national tournament. Gordy was named the MVP of the Frontier Conference for the second straight season and also was the MVP of the conference tournament. Gordy finished the season ranked fourth in the NAIA in field goal percentage and seventh in scoring. Gordy started all 32 games for the Warriors this season and led them in scoring at 20.8 points and in rebounds at 5.8 per contest. He made 238 of 392 shots from the field for 60.7 percent accuracy and was even 21-of-53 from the 3-point line for nearly 40 percent. Gordy also shot more than twice the number of free throws than any one else on the team and was 170-of-228 at the line for 74.6 percent. Gordy, who played at Northern Colorado for two seasons before transferring to LCSC, also finished third on the team in assists with 51, and was fourth in steals with 29. 2007-08 NAIA Division I Men’s Basketball All-America Team – March 25
