LCSC Alumni Association sets awards ceremony

The Lewis-Clark State College Alumni Association will hold its annual meeting and award ceremony on May 14 at the Clarkston Golf and Country Club, located at 1676 Elm Street in Clarkston.

The annual meeting begins at 5 p.m., with a reception to follow at 5:30 p.m. The presentation of awards will begin at 6 p.m.

Award winners for this year include Barbara Bowen as Alumna of the Year, Marvin Yates as Alumnus of the Year, Kimberly Jones as Young Alumna of the Year, and Brian Christenson as Young Alumnus of the Year. These alumni awards are presented to the alum that has enriched the lives of others through generous gifts of time and talent, their involvement with civic, charitable, and social causes, and an ability to inspire. The young alum awards honor someone who is under 40 years of age and sets an inspirational example for future young alumni.

Also receiving honors will be Robert Hayes as the winner of the Aletha Pabst Award, Cheryl Jenkins as the Educator of the Year, and David Walker with the Spirit Award for extraordinary alumni service. Richard Jacksha will receive the Marion Shinn Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Aletha Pabst Award pays tribute to someone who is not an alumnus, but has made significant contributions to Lewis-Clark State College, while the Marion Shinn Award recognizes the outstanding contributions of an alumnus who has shown long-term dedication and service to the College and their community. The Excellence in Education Award recognizes superior achievement in the field of education. The recipient serves as a role model and sets standards of excellence to which others can aspire.

Anyone planning to attend the reception and awards ceremony is asked to RSVP to the LCSC Alumni Relations Office at either (208) 792-2151 or e-mail rmolsen@lcsc.edu
