Center to hold exhibit as part of skateboard park fundraiser
08-04-08
The Center for Arts & History at Lewis-Clark State College will feature the exhibition “Carve,” a collection of painted skateboard decks from more than 15 regional artists, on Aug. 15-30 as part of a fundraiser for a new skate park at Lewiston’s Kiwanis Park.
Professional and amateur artists, along with junior high students, participated in creating works of art from donated skateboards, including four pieces of work from Josh Corder, a local L-C Valley artist and skateboarder.
“Carve” features more than 25 pieces with themes such as comic books, tattoos, and mixed media. Each board is hand painted and an original work. Valley Skatepark Association (VSA) will be auctioning each piece to raise money for a new skateboard park. The silent auction begins Aug. 15 and concludes on the final day of the show. Bids can be placed at the CAH Gallery II.
The Center for Arts & History is located at 415 Main St., in Lewiston. It is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday at 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
