Update on College Place
Because of the lightning-caused fire at College Place, LCSC Residence Life officials have been working out housing issues for students.
Here's an update as of Thursday morning.
The owner of College Place hopes to have the building ready for occupancy by late Friday,. Crews are onsite working to repair damages. Patriot Fire has repaired the fire lines and charged the system. Lewiston Fire has been notified. Cook Bros. Electric is currently replacing all breaker boxes and wiring in the building. The breaker boxes should be installed by late Thursday (today). We will then need to wait for Avista to connect power to the building. Steve Carlton Construction has been onsite since Wednesday morning accessing damages and has begun repairs. Lightening Heating and Air will be repairing AC units next week sometime.
All suites except 304 and possibly 204 should be ready for occupancy by late Friday. We may have to house 4-8 students elsewhere for a few more days, but we do have hotel rooms reserved at Motel 6 and still have a couple of beds available in Talkington Hall. The Office of Residence Life will be located in Clark Hall until further notice is given. You may contact us at 208-792-2053. Clark Hall is located at the corner of 4th Street and 11th Avenue.
Andy Hanson will be speaking with students and orientation on Friday morning and plans to briefly address the College Place residents. The Director of Residence Life will be included in the Parent Session at 11:00 a.m. so can speak to questions parents may have.
