Kosher Red Hots to perform on Oct. 17
Kosher Red Hots, a four-member band out of Spokane that plays a variety of Jewish music with an Eastern European flavor, will perform on Oct. 17 at 7:30 p.m. at the Silverthorne Theatre, located on the campus of Lewis-Clark State College.
Tickets for the even go on sale Sept. 15 and are $12.50 for adults, $8.50 for seniors (55 and over) and children (17 and under), and free for LCSC students with their LCSC student ID card. Tickets can be purchased starting Sept. 15 at Ticketswest (online and at outlets), at LCSC’s Continuing Education & Community Events office located inside the Center for Arts & History at 415 Main St. in Lewiston, and at the door.
The Kosher Red Hots are known for the entertaining performances. The group features a clarinet, accordion, guitar, and a vocalist who sings in Yiddish, Ladino, and English. The group’s music features whirlwind Eastern European klezmer dance tunes, Yiddish musical theater, swing, cabaret, and Spanish flavored love songs of the Sephardim. The music also weaves tales of humor, history and fun.
The group has performed at a number of concerts and festivals in the West and also was part of the “Prairie Home Companion” cruise to Alaska with Garrison Keller.
The performance is part of the Silverthorne Series that provides the students of LCSC and community with exposure to cultural and educational experiences through presentations of performing artists. The programming is presented by LCSC’s Continuing Education & Community Events and is funded, in part, by LCSC student fees and the Lewiston Independent Foundation for Education.
