Thomas-Jorgenson receives Leadership Award
Jill Thomas Jorgenson, the Director of the Region II Idaho Small Business Development Center at LCSC, received the “2009 Women’s Leadership Award” at the 11th Annual Women’s Leadership Conference of the Inland Northwest in Spokane on March 6.
Jill was one of six nominees in the category of “Academic Staff/Administrator Nominees” and was nominated for the award by Tina Geithner, Professor at Gonzaga University.
In the luncheon program, the summarized paragraph of what Tina submitted on Jill read: “Jill has shown her dedication to leadership and the development of others by organizing a Women’s Leadership Mentoring Group for campus leaders and students at LCSC. Jill is one of the most creative people I have ever met in higher education. Regardless of the type or degree of challenge, I have observed Jill’s steady optimism and unwavering courage, her ability to remain objective while also demonstrating compassion for others affected by the same challenges, her ability to be gracious even in the most difficult of circumstances and in dealing with some of the most trying of people, and her ability to emerge from the challenge with humility, understanding, and wisdom. She is a role model for emotional intelligence, integrity, perseverance, and grace.”
