Discussion on MySpace and Facebook is Friday
Swift Kick, an education company that works to increasing student engagement through technology and training, will hold an event on how to unlock the power of new online social networking sites such as MySpace and Facebook on April 17 at the Silverthorne Theatre on the Lewis-Clark State College campus.
The public is invited to this free event, sponsored by the Warrior Entertainment Board. There will be a general session at 10 a.m., followed by a student leader session at noon. A faculty/staff session wraps up the event at 2 p.m.
With 93 percent of college students on either MySpace or Facebook, it is one of the biggest issues schools are struggling to understand, says Swift Kick co-founder Tom Krieglstein. Swift Kick compares these Websites to a “megaphone in your glass bedroom” and points out both the dangers and positives that come with that analogy. Swift Kick also created Red Rover, a tool that lets schools tap into the power of MySpace and Facebook for orientation and recruitment.
