Wanigan to perform on Wednesday

The band Wanigan from the Lewis-Clark Valley will play some original work in addition to bluegrass and folk classics during the next Summer Concert Series at Lewis-Clark State College, which will be Wednesday, July 8, at noon-1 p.m. on the LCSC Centennial Lawn.

The concert is free and open to the public. Sodexho Food Services will have a barbecue lunch available at 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Folding chairs will be provided for seating.

Wanigan is composed of Warren Aikin on guitar and lead vocals; Tim Gundy on mandolin, guitar and vocals; Dale Vallandigham on banjo and vocals; Denis Hackwith on bass, mandolin, guitar and vocals; and Jason Hackwith on violin, mandolin, guitar and vocals.

The band is named after the floating cookhouse and sometimes sleeping quarters of the loggers who floated lumber down the Clearwater River. The band has appeared at numerous events in the Pacific Northwest.

The Series is sponsored by LCSC’s Community Programs. Future Series concerts include Dan Faller on July 22 and the Erik Bowen trio on Aug. 5.
