Public reception for Thomas is June 25

Lewis-Clark State College employees will hold a public reception to honor outgoing President Dene K. Thomas on June 25 at 5-7 p.m. at the Quality Inn in Clarkston.

The event, which is open to the public, will feature a no-host bar and snacks. A PowerPoint presentation will be shown throughout the event that will highlight the college during Thomas' tenure.

Thomas, who has been president at LCSC since 2001, is leaving the college to become president at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colo. She begins her new duties on July 1.

Provost J. Anthony (Tony) Fernandez has been named interim president at LCSC and will serve as the MC during a short presentation, scheduled to start at 6 p.m., during the reception. Fernandez, faculty member Joni Mina, Foundation Board member Butch Alford, Alumni Association President Don Montgomery, and Student Body President Clay Long will be the guest speakers.

In lieu of gifts, Thomas asks that people can donate to the Dene K. Thomas Investiture Scholarship Fund, which is awarded annually to a non-traditional female student at LCSC. Donations to the Scholarship Fund can be made at the event or by mailing a check made out to the fund to LCSC College Advancement, 500 8th Ave., Lewiston, ID, 83501.
