Turner to give Stegner Lecture on Feb. 24
Iraq War veteran and author Brian Turner will present the 30th annual Lewis-Clark State College Wallace Stegner Lecture on Friday, Feb. 24, at 7:30 p.m. at the LCSC Center for Arts and History, located at 415 Main Street in Lewiston.
The lecture, which is sponsored by an institutional development grant and the LCSC Division of Humanities, is free and open to the public. Books will be available for sale and signing,
Turner is the author of two books of poetry, "Here, Bullet" and "Phantom Noise". His work has been published in Poetry Daily, The Georgia Review, and in the "Voices in Wartime" Anthology, which was published in conjunction with the feature-length documentary film of the same name.
Turner was also featured in "Operation Homecoming", a unique documentary that explores the firsthand accounts of American servicemen and women through their own words. In 2009, Turner was selected as one of 50 United States Artists Fellows.
The Stegner Lecture Series has long been a literary-cultural highlight for the LCSC community. Named in honor of Western writer Wallace Stegner, the annual lecture features discussion about the writer's relationship with the physical and psychological territories in which he or she resides and works.
