President Fernandez, other LCSC officials to attend economic development summit

LEWISTON, Idaho - Lewis-Clark State College President J. Anthony (Tony) Fernandez will be joined by other LCSC officials at the Idaho Economic Development Summit 2012 - Defining the Role of Higher Education in Economic Development on Feb. 28-29 at the Boise Centre.

The summit is presented by Idaho's higher education institutions and will bring together business, government, economic development organizations and other stakeholders to provide input and recommendations on how to improve higher education's contribution to the success of Idaho's economy.

Speakers include Idaho Department of Commerce Director Jeff Sayer, noted futurist Glen Hiemstra and Executive Director of the State Board of Education Mike Rush. The opening reception, hosted by the presidents of Idaho's eight public institutions, will feature exhibits on economic development successes from around the state.

The Economic Development Summit is the first in a series of three events in 2012 focused on strengthening programs and efforts to fuel innovation and economic growth in Idaho. Additional events focused on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) programs will be held in March and May.
