Campus events highlight arrival of LCSC students
The Lewis-Clark State College campus is alive with anticipation, as students and faculty arrive for the beginning of the Fall 2012 semester.
New student orientation takes place Friday, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Activity Center with a welcome by President J. Anthony (Tony) Fernandez and Dean of Student Services Andy Hanson. That will be followed by lunch and division information sessions at the Williams Conference Center. During the information sessions, students will be eligible to win a $500 scholarship. After lunch, a campus tour is offered, along with several receptions and workshops. The day ends with shuttles transporting students to Hells Gate State Park for a Beach Party and barbecue.
Classes begin on Monday, August 27 and the annual Welcome Fair will take place on the lawn in front of Sam Glenn Complex from 10 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Local businesses, campus departments, clubs, non-profit and other community organizations will be on hand for the event. Sodexo Food Services will set up a taco bar, the student radio station KLCZ will provide music and there will be plenty of games and drawings for prizes, including one for a scholarship.
On Monday evening, Magician Daniel Martin will perform at 8 p.m. in the Silverthorne Theater. Admission is free for students and the public.
