Sport Leadership Lecture Series at LCSC during October
The Dr. Bob Frederick Sport Leadership Lecture Series: Lessons from Experienced Professionals is on the campus of Lewis-Clark State College October 1 - 29.
The series honors highly respected Dr. Bob Frederick of the University of Kansas for life-long commitment to teaching, coaching, and athletic administration. Throughout Dr. Frederick's career he served in a variety of sport leadership roles, many of them at the University of Kansas where he participated as a student-athlete, coached, served as an athletic director, and taught classes in sport management.
According to lecture series organizer Dr. Pete Van Mullem, LCSC Assistant Professor of Sport Administration, Dr. Frederick is revered for his value-driven leadership style, always putting the best interest of students and student-athletes first.
"The speakers in the lecture series exemplify Dr. Frederick's commitment to treating people with dignity and respect and helping young people develop and achieve success," said Van Mullem.
The series opens on Tuesday, October 1 with two lectures, the first by Dan Lawson, University of Idaho Swim Center Aquatic Manager. The lecture is from 9 a.m. - 10 a.m. in Sacajawea Hall, Room 112. Also on Tuesday is a lecture by Dr. Cathryn Claussen, Professor and Director of the Sport Management Program at Washington State University. Her lecture is from 12 p.m. - 1 p.m. in Sacajawea Hall, Room 115. She will be introduced by LCSC Dean for Academic Programs Mary Flores.
The lecture series features 13 leaders in sport, including LCSC Athletic Director Gary Picone, WSU Athletic Director Bill Moos, Olympic Gold Medalist and Women's Swim Coach at WSU, Tom Jager, and Brad Frederick, Director of Men's Basketball Operations at the University of North Carolina.
