LC Cares History, Mission, Goals

The LC Cares Committee was created and chaired by former Director of Communications, Greg Meyer, in 2013/14. The goal was to have a committee made up of students, staff, and faculty to benefit those in need in our community around the holiday season.  In year two, 2014/15, Robin VanSickle and LaChelle Rosenbaum co-chaired.  The idea was to have a box in each LCSC building where all campus groups could donate gifts and food to families in need and then take it to local food pantries and charities.  That goal was met and exceeded in both years and in years since.

Ideally, the committee would have at least one member from each constituent group on campus and include the the Community Programs (CP) Administative Assistant as Treasurer as CP oversees that account.

2016 Committee:

Chair:  Theresa Chrisman – CSO

Treasurer:  Amanda Gill– CSO

  • Char Kremer – PSO
  • Doris Swinford – CSO
  • Karen Schmidt – CSO
  • Garrett Pearson – ASLCSC

Institutional Goal:

To become an officially recognized LCSC committee so that donations may be tracked and be tax deductible for donors through the Advancement Office.  We hope to coordinate activities across campus with faculty, staff and students to avoid duplication of effort.

To be a reflection of LCSC’s goodwill towards our surrounding region and make a positive impact in our community.

2015 Drive for clearwater complex fire victims:

In 2015, massive fires swept through our region.  The LC Cares committee teamed up with local musicians to raise money for the vicitms.  LC Cares was able to raise $3,269 for 18 families in the Kamiah area.
