LCSC OPEN - October 23

After being pretty stressed out about the weather all week where it rained for 5 days straight including the day before, the clouds let up on the morning of the race to give pretty good running conditions, other than the mud on the course which made for great looking uniforms and slick turns.

Both teams ran well, especially considering the stresses and other things that can make running on your home course in the last race of the year difficult.

The women squeaked by with a 1 point win over Eastern Oregon where both teams ran very well.  Races with this close of a margin only show how each and every runner on the team is important and can have an impact on the outcome, even if they aren't the lead runner.  Truly a team effort on Saturday.  Tausha ended up winning the meet in a time of 18:23, with Taryn (3rd), April (6th), Erica (11th) and Darrah (14th) making it into the top 15.  We also saw great races from Shannon (16th), Jenny (17th), Rikki (21st), Hillary (26th - making the time requirement for Academic All-American), Capri (39th), Erika (42nd) and Ashley (43rd).

The men started off VERY strong and led the field for a good part of the first portion of the race, but were unable to hang on to the end.  Anton finished in 5th overall to lead the team.  Matt (12th), Aaron (16th), James (19th), Jarrett (24th) and Keith (25th) rounded it out for the first six warrior runners.  Closing it out were Austin (32nd), EJ (37th), Trevor (38th), Johnny (41st), Logan (42nd) and Nate (43rd -suffered from a fall during the race).

We have a little less than two weeks in final preparations for our regional championships.  Both teams have been showing great improvement over the past three weeks.  The women have been really packing it up well and showing great team depth, pushing each other.  The men have been a little inconsistent with 2 or 3 guys running VERY well each week, but not everyone at the same time.  As soon as they all get together we will see a much improved team outcome over what hasn't been bad, but they and I know can be better.
