LCSC CROSS COUNTRY

COMMUNITY EVENT RACES

Course Descriptions

Freeze your Fanny

The course starts at the Kiwanis Shelter on Snake River Avenue.  Will head SOUTH on the levee pathway approximately 1.5 miles then return, with the additional .1 miles added when coming off of the main levee pathway.  The out portion will take you UNDER the southway bridge before returning.  Basically an out and back course.

Tri-State Outfitters and Hells Gate Duathlons & BIKE/RUN Portions of Triathlon

Both courses start with the run that begins at the first parking lot to the immediate right when entering the park.  This is the same parking lot as the bike transition area.  The run leaves the parking lot, heads north one mile then returns.  The 2nd run will go out to the same turn around, however upon returning will enter the parking lot that is parallel to the bike transition area so that finishers are not in the same area as those still competing.  The bike portion leaves the parking lot, out the park entrance onto Tammany Creek Road heading South.  The turnaround is 6 miles out, just past lucky acres arena.  The run starts flat then goes down slightly with about a quarter mile of gradual up when approaching the turn around, reversing all when returning.  The bike has a short uphill when leaving the park then a gradual uphill throughout most of the out portion with some rollers along the way.  You go down when approaching the turnaround.  Reverse all when coming back in.  Usually if there is a wind it comes out of the West and pushes you on the way out on the bike, but the downhill coming back in more than makes up for it.  As an example when I ride this route I can average 16-18 mph going out but 21-25 coming in.

Twilight 5K

Starting above Kiwanis park shelter it heads north, circles around the Sacajawea Bronze ( just under one mile), returns south to just above the boat launch area near the parking lot south of grain growers, then returns north to finish in the Kiwanis shelter area.  The course is relatively flat with a net elevation loss of around 15 feet.  The only up and down is when you go under the blue bridge.

Doc Sears Fall Classic

Starting on the upper levee above Kiwanis Park, the walk portion (2 miler) heads north 1 mile (goes under blue bridge) then returns to the shelter area via the lower levee pathway through the ponds.  The 4.65 miler basically circles the bridges.  Starting at Kiwanis park will head north, go under the blue bridge, take the hard LEFT Hairpin turn then onto the bridge heading west.  Down the roadway and through the boat dock parking lot, along the pathway heading south, up the southway bridge path and then follow path back to Kiwanis Park.
