TRIATHLON INFO & RULES
SWIM
- The swim portion of
the race will be held on Friday Night (TBA) at the Asotin Co. Family Aquatic
Center in Clarkston, WA.
- It will be a first
come, first serve basis for the swim with two swimmers per lane as a
maximum. If you prefer to have a lane to yourself you may be asked to
wait. Priority will be given to those that have pre-registered.
- With combined lanes,
we will try to keep similar level of swimmers together, your assistance in
this is appreciated.
- You will be given a
time recording sheet to give to your timer. Be sure that your name and bib
number is correct on the sheet.
Bike Course
- Bike leaves transition
area, out the main park entrance and takes a RIGHT onto Tammany Creek Road
(South). It proceeds six (6) miles to the turn around which is just past
Lucky Acres Arena. Returns on the same route. Please note, it is an open
course, so motorists will be on the road. You are responsible for your own
safety and are required to follow all applicable traffic laws.
Run Course
- Run Starts in Main
Parking Lot area. Heads North then West and North onto the levee system for
one mile, then returns on the same path into the finish area parallel to the
bike transition area.
- TEAM RUNNERS
– there will be a pathway created parallel to the transition area for
you to run through and tag your cyclist. DO NOT run through
transition area.
IMPORTANT RACE DAY PROCEDURE
- Prior to 10:00am on
Saturday, all racers will be asked to leave the transition area and line up
in the order of their swim time. A clock will be started and when you swim
time corresponds to the clock you will be released to the transition area to
retrieve your bike.
- We will try to
maintain order and release racers properly, however you are responsible to
be aware of the clock and your corresponding time. Official swim times will
be posted that morning.
- Non-swimmers will be
released simultaneously 60 seconds following the last swimmer.
RACE NUMBERS
- Please have your race
numbers on the front.
- Please attach your
adhesive race number to your bike. You will need to show your bib number in
order to retrieve your bike following the race.
- You will have your age
and race number written on your calves (if accessible).
PLEASE DO NOT CROSS THE FINISH LINE MORE THAN ONCE.
- This can
DRAMATICALLY affect our ability to have accurate results and the time to
compile the results if people that have already finished the race re-cross
the finish line.
BIKE RULES
- NO DRAFTING
- You must stay at
least two (2) bike lengths behind the bike in front of you.
- If passing, you have
30 seconds to pass, if unable you must return to the two length distance
before retrying.
- No passing on the
right.
- No riding side by
side.
- Stay to the right of
the road (near fog line) unless passing.
- Do not cross the
center line.
- Chin straps must be
fastened before mounting the bike.
- No riding transition
area. Mount and dismount your bike outside the transition area (a chalk
line will indicate the area).
- The bike course is
open to traffic. We will have course marshals at the bike turn around and
the main entry to the park, however motorists do not always follow the
directions of the motorists. BE AWARE! You are responsible for your
own safety.
- Neutral Zone. Upon
passing back through the main park entry area (off of Tammany Creek Rd). you
are now in a NO PASSING ZONE all the way to the transition area.
Speed limit is 20 miles per hours.
- Bikes must be racked
before proceeding to second run.
- There is no aid on the
bike course and availability of a sag wagon will be VERY LIMITED.
RUN and OTHER RULES
- You can run, walk or
crawl on the run.
- Water will be
available at the run turn around.
- You cannot receive any
aid of any type from anyone outside official race personnel at any point in
time during the race.
- Please be sure your
tag has been taken upon crossing the finish line.
- If finishing in a
group, please stay in the order of your finish.
- PLEASE, DO NOT
CROSS THE FINISH LINE TWICE.
- Results on the race
board are unofficial.
- A computerized timing
system will be used along with two backup hand timers. Final results will
be posted once all have finished.
- We ask for your
patience and support for all racers, those that have finished and those
still finishing.
Violations of race rules
may result in time penalties and/or disqualification and are at the total
discretion of the race director.
Please be courteous to all
race personnel. Without them the race would not exist.
