BIGFOOT OPEN 2002

SPOKANE FALLS COMMUNITY COLLEGE

The 10th ranked LCSC women's cross country team won the Bigfoot Open today on the campus of Spokane Falls Community College. In a field of 97 runners and 10 teams the warriors finished ahead of runner-up Whitworth College by 5 points. The warrior women had three top 10 placers with sophomore Tausha Kuzmic leading the way, finishing in 2nd place in a time of 19:08. She was followed closely by Junior, Lisa Paxton (7th--19:21) and Senior Lacey Way (9th--19:22). Rounding it out for the warriors were Lauren Wright (18th), Emma Linehan (19th), Katie Moser (21st), Pam Houston (23rd), Erica Madison (29th) and Hillary Buettner (21:28).

The men's team finished 4th out of 9 teams and were led by Junior Joe Donnellon who finished 5th overall in a time of 26:07. Close behind Joe were Calvin Sphuler (18th--26:55), Chris Patterson (31st--27:46) and Shane Pitcher (27:46). Rounding it out for the warriors were Nick Niemeyer (48th--28:42) and Lance Nebeker (66th--29:31). Another good performance for the men's team who garnered 4 votes in last weeks top 25 national polls.

Next week LCSC host the Warrior Open in their final tune-up for the regional meet, which is in three weeks.
