Meeting Minutes
September 24, 2003
Motion to approve minutes from April’s CSO meeting: Patty Leonard. Seconded by Pam Thornley.
INTRODUCTIONS
:Dawn Byers made introductions of new CSO Officers for the 2003 –
2004 year. They are as follows: Dawn Byers,
CSO Chair; Janell Miller, Chair Elect; Vikki Swift, Recording Secretary; Julie
Crea, Web Secretary.
LCSC MORALE COMMITTEE
:Dawn spoke about the Morale Committee that was recently established. The committee has been established to see what LCSC can do in lieu of raises to keep morale positive among employees. Suggestions from classified staff were given to Shannon Casteel, Chair of the CSO Recognition committee. That committee has incorporated some of these suggestions internally this year. Examples are as follows: Drawing for a free car wash to a CSO member each month; drawing for a free lunch from Sodexho each month; birthday cards with a packet of cider sent to each classified staff member on their birthday. (Must be present at quarterly CSO Meeting to win).

UPDATE ON ANNUAL FLEA MARKET
:Shannon Casteel announced the CSO Annual Flea Market is to be held on Thursday, September 25
th from 9:00 – 4:00. Prices between $.25 to $5.00. Members are encouraged to bring in their “used but not abused” items to sell to help raise money for CSO.CAMPUS HOLIDAY PARTY UPDATE:
Campus Holiday party update given by Vikki. Meeting was held on Monday, September 22
nd. It was basically an organizational meeting, but committee members were encouraged to get feedback from employees in their areas. Vikki asked CSO members to email her with comments/feedback to take to the next meeting.VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:
Dawn asked for volunteers for the By-Laws Committee, Employee
Recognition Committee, Campus Service Committee
and Professional Development Day Committee. Sign up sheets available for
classified staff members to sign up.
NEW CLASSIFIED STAFF RECOGNIZED:
Vikki Swift announced all new classified employees / transfers /reclassifications that have occurred since the last meeting in April.
OTHER BUSINESS:
Karen Evans mentioned that there are two new employees in her office, Polly Blasko, Director of Development and Bert Sahlberg, Communications Coordinator. She also mentioned that they are beginning an “Adopt a Seat” program for the new campus activity center. We will soon be able to do this through Payroll deduction.
Dawn gave an update from the President’s cabinet meeting that
she attended earlier in the week. She mentioned a few of
the following items currently being discussed:

Strategic planning cycle is coming up. We will probably all be involved in this in some way.•
Comments/feedback from ITime were addressed. So far it looks like everything is going pretty well.•
A new policy about downloading MP3’s is going to be coming forward. If you have any MP3’s on your “state” computer,•
A committee will be formed to address salary equity and compression issues. Several representatives from classified, professional staff and faculty will be asked to sit on this committee.
