Beginning Fall 2008, Lane Community College offers a two year Associate's Degree in Dental Hygiene on the campus of Lewis-Clark State College. Pre-requisite courses are available through LCSC and must be completed by the end of the Spring term during the year of application.
Dental Hygienists are licensed preventive oral health professionals who provide educational, clinical, and therapeutic services to support overall health through proper oral health. The Bureau of Labor and Statistics lists Dental Hygiene among the fastest growing occupations in the U.S., with excellent job prospects for the future.
The Lane CC Dental Hygiene program at LCSC began with funding from a DOLETA grant, proposed to meet the needs of rural counties in Idaho traditionally served by LCSC. Admission preference will be given to residents of the following counties in Idaho:
Boundary, Bonner, Kootenai, Benewah, Shoshone, Latah, Clearwater, Nez Perce, Lewis, and Idaho.
Admission preference also will be available for residents of Asotin County, Washington.
Students from other accredited U.S. colleges and universities also are encouraged to apply. Refer to the Application Packet for further details.
The next application cycle will begin in March 2015 for students applying to begin the Dental Hygiene program in Fall 2015. You may view the 2014 application (choose Log in as a guest) for more information or contact program advisors.
