Prior to my academic life I was a practicing engineer in southeast Idaho.  I've worked for the Idaho National Lab, Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (back when it was still a "division"), Om Semiconductor (formerly AMI), and the city of Pocatello.  Loved all those jobs and learned a lot.

After ten years in engineering,  I went back to school and earned my PhD at Washington State University where I researched how students learn science and engineering.  In 2005 I was awarded a National Science Foundation CASEE post-doctoral Fellowship working with University of Washington Center for Engineering Learning and Teaching where I was emersed in engineering education research.  I worked with prominent researchers in the field, honed my research skills, and had a fantasstic research experience.

I fell in love with the LC valley during my time at WSU and in 2006 I found my dream job at Lewis-Clark State College.  I've been teaching engineering and little bit of physics, GIS, and Earth Systems ever since.
