I began my career in education in l981 when I became the Medical Secretary instructor for the School of Vocational Education at Lewis-Clark State College. I was able to take this position because of my experience in the field of administrative medical assisting. Since that beginning I have received my bachelor's and master's degrees in the field of professional/technical education. I taught for a few years and then became the division chair of Office and Business Technology in l984. The name of the division was later changed to Business Technology and Service.
In 1991 I left LCSC to move to Vancouver, Washington to be the Assistant Dean of the Vancouver Branch of Washington State University. After 8 years with WSU I took a leave of absence to take a life's adventure working for a float plane company in Ketchikan, Alaska. After a year of being the tour manager and director of marketing for Taquan Air in Alaska my husband and I decided to return to Lewiston.
This was in 2000. I can't believe how lucky I was that my previous position of division chair at LCSC was vacant. I applied and was fortunate enough to be given the position. So, here I am now after almost 14 years in my second round of serving LCSC. I continue to want to do whatever I can to help students receive the education and training which will bring them joy in their life's work.
Education for Productive Lives :)
