I believe that all individuals have the right to an education and to the pursuit of happiness. As such, I treat each of my students as if they have as much right to be in my classroom as I. I manage my classroom on a platform of mutual respect. As I will not tolerate disrespect from a student, so also should a student not tolerate disrespect from myself or other students. I believe that students come to me to learn a craft and a trade, and as such I treat them as adults who have made an adult decision to learn, and grow as a professional and as a person. However, I also recognize that stringent environments hamper creativity and seek to create a relaxed, fun learning environment.
I run my classroom as an employer would run a business. Students should be prepared for the requirements of industry, and that is exactly what I aim to accomplish whether they are pursuing an ITC, an AAS, or a BAS degree. I believe that all adults have the capacity to learn, and they all learn in their own unique way. I attempt to foster those qualities and learning environments, in a manner that prepares students to enter the exciting field of Information Technology. I also believe that the ages of slow progress are no longer possible, and as such, adults must be prepared for lifelong learning. I encourage students to study beyond the content of their coursework, and make the same efforts myself.
