Course Summary for MATH 157-60 – SPRING 2013

A Problem Solving Approach to Mathematics for Elementary School teachers is a 3-credit course designed to meet the needs of prospective elementary and middle school teachers and those professionals who need mathematics for certification from an accredited college, professional development, or continuing education. The course is heavily concept and skill-based with emphasis on problem solving and applying mathematics to everyday life. The use of algebraic thinking and mathematical reasoning are also key elements in the course. Lewis-Clark State College offers Mathematics for Elementary School Teachers, Math 157, online and on-campus. Mathematics for Elementary School Teachers II, Math 257, is the continuation course.

The class is offered directly online through Pearson Education at: http://pearsonmylabandmastering.com/. It was formerly known as Course Compass and is not found on Blackboard; however, the course can be accessed through the LCSC Distance Learning portal.

1. Students may register online for the class beginning January 7, 2013 at: http://pearsonmylabandmastering.com/. There is no additional fee for those students who enrolled in MATH 257-60 FALL 2013.

2. Follow the on-screen instructions to register and enroll, or click For Students for step-by-step instructions.

3. Instructor Course ID code: yeoman02584

4. Student access code: you can purchase just the MyMathLab packet or the text/packet combo from the LCSC bookstore or you can purchase access online using a credit card. The access packet includes a virtual text.

5. A valid LCMAIL address that you check daily. Considerable information is sent by email.

6. Create a login name and password.

Classwork Begins January 21, 2013
