Course Description:

This WebCT course, intended for parents, teachers, home schoolers, coordinators and supervisors of gifted/talented learners, is activity-based and designed to be completed at your own pace on an individual study basis.  The course will help familiarize you with the apparently contradictory yet complimentary concepts of meritocracy, elitism, and equalitarianism.  Your efforts will be directed toward the completion of a research paper in which you attempt to synthesized these concepts together with an exposition of your personal beliefs and values regarding gifted/talented education.  The course is intended to be informative and to stretch your thinking in the tradition of creativity and critical thinking associated with gifted/talented education. Pre/Co-requisites:  EDGT 410, 420 and 440.

Win 2000/XP or Mac OSX Pentium/G3 1Ghz w/ 1.5 GB RAM
 High Speed Internet Access Recommended*

 Java runtime environment 1.5.11

 *Courses can be accessed via 56K modem connections although due to the long page load times this type of connection is not recommended and any connectivity problems due to this type of connection are not supported by Lewis-Clark State College.

On-line discussions may be required during this course. The LCMail account and BbCE course mail are the only accounts that will be used to contact students regarding online courses. An LCMail account is automatically assigned to students when they enroll. Access to this email account is found at http://lcmail.lcsc.edu. BbCE course mail is enabled when a student is enrolled in a BbCE course. Access to BbCE course mail is through each BbCE course.
