The focus of
this course is to help students gain an understanding of the generalist
practice framework for social work advocacy for social justice. Students
will explore the rich and diverse history of social work advocacy, the
generalist practice framework for social work advocacy for social
justice, representation, influence, contexts, and social work advocacy
practice skills. Students will be introduced to the knowledge,
strategies, and skills needed to advocate at the micro, mezzo, and macro
level of social work practice. An emphasis on client advocacy, cause
advocacy, legislative advocacy, and administrative advocacy are
presented. Pre-requisite: HIST/SW 320 or permission of the
instructor. |
