Dr. Carroll has been an educator in secondary schools, community college, and higher education for more than thirty years.  He is a Professor in the Division of Education where he has focused on secondary teacher education and alternative pathways to teacher certification for the last eight years.  He recently completed collaboration on Curriculum Books: The First Hundred Years (Peter Lang, 2002).  His current research project is domestic schooling.

Ryan graduated from LCSC with his bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts in 1994.  He earned his Master’s degree in Communication Studies from the University of Montana in 1999.  He has taught Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communication, and Student Development courses at the University of Montana, Walla Walla Community College, and LCSC.  His current position is Associate Registrar at LCSC where he manages the schedule of classes, athletic eligibility, data privacy concerns, and classroom scheduling.  He is also involved with the coordination of graduation, catalog production, grading processes, and WarriorWeb.  He considers himself a teacher at heart and is willing to assist students in any way that he can.

Jan received her EdD from the University of Idaho  in Educational Administration with a dissertation topic on gifted and talented program issues in the State of Washington.  She was the Director of Curriculum and Instruction and grant writer for Clarkston School District for 10 years and prior to that the Director of the Gifted and Talented program in Clarkston for 14 years.  Jan also have several years of experience in regular and special education classrooms. Jan was selected “Teacher of the Year” for Eastern Washington in 1995 by the Washington Association of Educators of Gifted and Talented.

Eric is an Assistant Professor of History in the Social Science Division and received his Ph.D. from Northeastern University in 2001.  He approaches history with a wide angle lens, looking at problems which require that the entire world be used as the unit of historical analysis.  He also focuses on helping students develop the skills to utilize the past to better understand the present.  Some of his current areas of research/interest include:  Globalization & the Inland Northwest, Imperialism, Intellectual History, and the independent media movement.

Sue Martin, MSW is currently an adjunct instructor for LCSC. She has been a practicing School Social Worker for 26 years prior to becoming the Site Coordinator for the North Idaho – Lewiston, Master of Social Work Program for Boise State University in May, 2006. Since May, 2006 she has focused on teaching students to become MSW level practitioners and furthering social work education in Northern Idaho and Eastern Washington. Sue received her MSW from Eastern Washington University in 1981. She has numerous certifications and licenses to practice social work in both Idaho and Washington. Her primary interests have been in the area of furthering School Social Work.

Mike has been at LCSC since 1991. He has two bachelors degrees from Lewis-Clark State College, one in History and one in Social Science: Secondary Education. He has a M.Ed. from the University of Idaho in Adult Education and a M.A. in Communication from Washington State University. Currently, Mike is working toward completing his Ph.D. at Washington State University. The focus of his research is on the role news media has in creating and/or perpetuating negative stereotypes of targeted ethnic groups. At present Mike teaches courses that deal with human relations, diversity, communication and an introduction to the social sciences.

Sharon, MSN, RN-BC, is the new Associate Professor & Coeur d’Alene Outreach Coordinator for the Nursing Division. Sharon earned her BSN at California State, Long Beach and her MSN from California State, Dominguez Hills. She has been involved in various aspects of nursing education since 1981. Her most recent educational experience is from Boise State University where she taught for 9 years. Sharon’s areas of specialty are pediatrics and public/community health. She has been involved in many research projects and has authored numerous publications. Sharon recently relocated to North Idaho.

It provides him with a social scientific understanding of the political, economic and cultural aspects of society, and especially within the context of the procedural and substantive dimensions of public policy. Silvia is an Adjunct Professor of Psychology in the Social Sciences Division. She received her B.A. in Psychology form Lewis-Clark State College in 2002 and an M.A. in Organizational Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University in 2004. She is currently a Doctoral Candidate at the Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution, George Mason University.
