Guidelines for Proctors
The main concern for a proctor is
preserving the academic integrity of student examinations.
In order to maintain these standards, we reccommend the
following guidelines:
Prior to Submitting a Proctor Request Form:
- In order to complete the proctor
request form, the student will need the following
information from you, the proctor:
- Name and Title
- Email Address
- Business Name
- Mailing Address
- Daytime Phone and Fax
- Once the proctor request form is submitted
by the student, Distance Learning will evaluate the request and respond directly
to the proctor via email.
- Distance Learning will email the
proctor all directions and materials required for the
exam. Review any and all attachments and notify Distance
Learning if there are any questions or concerns.
- Review
Distance Learning Student Testing Policy
- Please Note: If you
are not able to supervise the student, please
do not pass the examination on to another proctor
without first obtaining permission from the Distance
Learning office. In order to maintain
accreditation standards each individual proctor must be
approved by Distance Learning through a proctor request
form.
Prior to Administering the Exam:
-
Ask the student for photo identification to verify
identity.
- Students are not allowed
to use personal computers or laptops for proctored
exams.
- Find a quiet area where the student may take the exam
with little distraction. Allow students to bring in this
area only those materials needed for the exam.
- If the student is taking an
electonic exam, verify all additional browser
windows are closed prior to entering the password.
- If the student is taking a paper exam, set a watch or
timer for the time allowed. When the time is up,
collect the exam whether the student is finished or not.
- The student must work independently
on the exam, without assistance from other persons or
from other references, unless otherwise indicated.
After the Exam:
- If the student has taken an
electronic exam Fax or email a completed Certificate of Supervision to Distance Learning
- If the student has taken a
paper exam fax, or scan and email the exam
along with a completed Certificate of Supervision to
Distance Learning immediately following the end of the
exam. In addition, please verify
with Distance Learning
that the fax or scanned copy of the exam
is legible.
