Start off on the right foot!  How to be ready for the first day.

To prevent stress and worry at the beginning of the class, it is best to take a few moments and prepare for the upcoming semester. While online instructors allow for some flexibility, they do expect you to be "ready to learn" on day one. Here are some tips to help you get ready before you log in.

Order Textbooks

Reading is a key element in an online class. As such, having texts in hand before class begins is crucial to being ready. Not having your book by the first day, or even the first week, puts you at risk for falling behind, and, depending on the class, it may be difficult to catch up.

The LCSC bookstore makes it easy to plan ahead. Their website allows you to sign up for notifications once books are available for purchase. You can have them shipped right to you, or you can opt to pick them up in the bookstore at no extra charge.

Check your Student Email Account early and often!

Distance Learning sends out important reminders prior to the start of the semester, including when classes are available for access. Since your student LCMail account is the official email for college communications, this is how Distance Learning and other campus offices will contact you.

Get your computer "up to speed"

Make certain you have access to a reliable computer with internet access. Also, in case of emergency, identify a back-up computer. Review the minimum requirements located on the Distance Learning web site and make certain both computers are ready to go.

Also take a few moments to set up your browser.  The information located on the Browser Setup page will provide guidance and assistance.    These steps take very little time and ultimately will save you time, energy, stress and worry as the semester begins.
