Learning in an online platform can be challenging at times, so e-Learning Services has compiled some common questions that often arise for our students.

How do I log in to Blackboard?

Follow the instructions for Accessing Blackboard Learn. Contact Blackboard Support Services if you are unable to log in with these instructions call 855.671.6899 (toll-free) or visit the Blackboard Support Center.

Why aren’t my classes showing in Blackboard?

Blackboard course enrollments are updated three times a day. If you just added a course and it’s not appearing in your Blackboard course list, it may not appear for several more hours. If 24 hours pass and the course still does not appear, contact Blackboard Support Services.

How do I submit an assignment?

It is important to closely follow assignment instructions given by your instructor. Most instructors will require assignments be submitted via Blackboard. View the Submitting Assignments tutorial for examples of submitting assignments in Blackboard.

How do I complete a discussion?

Discussions vary from course to course. Your instructor may ask you to create a new thread or you may be asked to reply to an existing thread. View the Discussions for Students tutorial for examples of completing discussions in Blackboard.

How do I see my grades?

Most courses have a “My Grades” link for accessing your grades. Don’t see one? Look for a “Course Tools” link and then access My Grades from the Course Tools page. Don’t see either of those? Contact your instructor.

How do I see the feedback on an assignment?

Feedback is accessed by clicking on an assignment title from the My Grades tool. This short tutorial will guide you.

How do I contact my instructor?

Some instructors utilize the Blackboard “Messages” function and others utilize their LCSC email for communicating with students. Make sure you are emailing your instructor via the method indicated in the course. In addition to email, your instructor may list a telephone number (office and/or cell) for alternative correspondence. Do not hesitate to use telephone contact in lieu of email, especially for urgent matters.

My instructor hasn’t responded to my email. What should I do?

Some instructors utilize the Blackboard “Messages” function and others utilize their LCSC email for communicating with students. Make sure you are emailing your instructor via the method indicated in the course. If you have not received a response within 48 hours, we suggest you attempt to call your instructor at the phone number(s) they have listed. If you still do not receive a response, please contact our e-Learning Services Coordinator for assistance.

Why can’t I see the video (or other content) in the course?

Usually, this means there is a compatibility issue with the web browser you're using to access Blackboard. Try logging in to your course with a different browser. If the content still doesn't show, check for security messages at the top or bottom of the browser that may be blocking the content from displaying. You will need to give the content permission to load. If you still can't see the content, contact your instructor.

I forgot my password. What do I do?

If you’ve forgotten your password, we cannot retrieve it for you. You may reset your password by utilizing the “Forgot Your Password?” option on the Blackboard Login page. If this method is unsuccessful, you may call 855.671.6899 (toll-free) or visit the Blackboard Support Center.
