As an elementary teacher candidate at LCSC, each student will complete the following phases:

  • Phase I: Pre-Professional Studies (66 credits)
  • Phase II: Professional Studies (30 credits)
  • Phase III: Professional Internship (32 credits)

Application for admission into the Teacher Education Program is due the first day of the semester prior to beginning Phase II coursework.

  • COMPASS Exam
  • Entrance Interview
    • including communication skills: oral and written
    • Disposition to teach, including traits relevant to academic and professional success and cultural responsiveness
  • Proficiency in content areas (GPA 2.75+); C- or better in all Foundations courses
