Becky Pickard, a teacher/athletic trainer for the Genesee Joint School District, has been named the spring 2017 recipient of the Lewis-Clark State College Division of Education and Kinesiology's Outstanding Educator Award. Pickard was recognized by staff members of LCSC’s Teacher Education Program at an awards ceremony at the elementary school on Wednesday afternoon.
"Mrs. Pickard serves the Genesee Joint School District in many different ways. Her primary position with the district is teaching PE to elementary and Jr. High students. She is a distinguished teacher in the area of PE and works closely with other staff members to integrate other subject matters into the lesson. She also took on the roll of teaching keyboarding to 3rd-6th grade students when the district began to promote keyboarding in the elementary two years ago. She also fills in gaps in staffing by serving as secretary for theK-12 office when she has time available. Mrs. Pickard not only serves students in multiple ways during the school day, but also after school. She serves as the district athletic trainer and can often be found taking care of students after school, on the courts or fields or leading trainings for coaches. Mrs. Pickard serves as a local Genesee EMT and through her background has been critical in leading our emergency/crisis team and building a strong safety plan for the Genesee Joint School District. We literally could not do everything we do without her support and initiative."
